Double Dating!

9/15/2012

Well, first and foremost I'm backkkkkk! For good this time. Well, at least that is my full intention. I would love to say I just needed a "blogger break" or went on a fun vaca, however neither of those were reason for my absence. But I'm saving that 'reason' for Monday's post. I'm not in the mood to get really deep or talk about what has been going on as of late. Today I'm in the mood to share something fun and the little joys that make our life extra special!

Which brings me to double dating...

Once we got married I started praying that God would help us find some young and fun couple friends that had things in common with both of us! I've always felt like it's very important for married couples to have couple friends to experience and share things with.

I'm going to be honest, the first 8-9 months of our marriage we had no one but each other and our families. Yes, we both still had our friends from high school that we stay in touch with from time to time but not any friends that could truly relate to us or where we're at with this stage of our lives.

Let me just tell you, God answers prayers!

Here lately we've been on double date overload and I'm loving every single second of it! :) We hang out with our friends 1-2 times a week and every time we end up having so much fun together! We all have so much in common and it's so nice to talk to other married couples who can relate to what you go through!

I'm so thankful that God has brought so many new, amazing people into our lives! Here are a few pictures from our recent adventure to the "pumpkin patch!"
Do you guys like to double date? What are you favorite "couple" dates?!

  1. I am constantly thinking the same thing that when we get married in June that we will have other married friends to hangout with. I have this feeling that most of our single friends won't want to hangout and do old people things lol. Luckily we have a couple friends that are married so it won't be too bad. Here lately we have just been having bon fires with them and going fishing on the river.

  2. Same, Me too! I wish I had couples friends to hang out with, especially because non of my friends will be getting married anytime soon. My husband, unfortunately is such a loner sometimes.

  3. Love double dates! Our best friends live next door, but they're moving this week... so I'm going to have a really hard time with it :( We eat together at least once a week and basically have an open door policy. It's so nice to have a couple you can have fun with yet trust with your life...so glad you have something similar!

  4. I can totally relate. Since my finace and I are both young, there aren't really people our age in serious relationships that we can hang out with. Most people our age just want to "have fun" and not really be tied down to anyone - at least that's what it seems like. I think it would be so much fun to hang out with another couple, but for now, it's just my fiance and I, and his family, and occasionally one of his friends...

Looks like you had a great time at the pumpkin patch! :) I'm so excited for fall!

  5. GIRL, we are in the same position- looking for great couple friends that we have things in common with! It is SO important to have other married friends who really know exactly what stage of life you're in and who "get it" because as much as I love my single friends (both his and mine!) they just aren't in the same place as we are. Which brings in the couple friends! We've made a few really solid ones that we always have so much fun with! Double dating is my fave. You need to come to Cali and we can double date! ;)
Annnnd your date to the pumpkin patch made me really want to go to one!! I just have to wait for this darn weather to cool down juuuuust a bit- it'd feel weird to be at a totally fall place when it doesn't even feel close to fall yet!

  7. I totally agree that having a good couple friend base is a crucial part to a marriage. Single friends can sometime not understand everything you are going through and have a hard time accepting that you are now married. It's also great to have the support and advice from another married couple on rough times. Perfect post:)

  8. Where did you find them? I am desperately trying to make friends but we live in a college town and at 25 and 27 are considered old. I had college friends here but they all peaced out upon graduation or are in school for another masters and super busy. It's very lonely!

  20. Aww I am so jealous - my hubby and I have been married THREE YEARS and we still have pretty much zip to double date with. Its kinda sad because we just cannot find other couples. I've always said we need a bar for couples.
