Show & Tell Monday- Anniversary Edition

8/27/2012

1. Are you married? If so when did you get married, and tell us about your special day. If not? How would you describe your dream wedding?

Today was a perfect day for me to participate in this wonderful link up! Today marks mine and my husbands one year anniversary! Looking back now it's absolutely crazy thinking a year has passed us by! August 27th, 2011 was honestly the best day of my entire life. We had the most magical wedding! I can honestly say everything was perfect! Not a single thing went wrong! I would do it over in a heart beat!

2. Show us some wedding pictures. Either yours or of some that you love.
3. How about the engagement? Tell us your story. If not engaged, what's your dream proposal?

I've shared my engagement story before on here and can't seem to remember where? {Sorry!} It's super long so I'll just summarize it! Justin proposed to me May 4th, 2010! My 19th birthday! It came has a total surprise and I was absolutely shocked when I saw how gorgeous my ring was! {He picked it out all by himself!} He took me out to Jeff Ruby's in downtown Newport overlooking the water and we had a very romantic dinner! After dinner we got ice cream and went on a walk over by the bridge. His plan was to purpose on the huge bridge downtown but it was blocked off for construction so he took me over to the overlook spot and told me how much he loved me and asked if I still wanted to marry him! Of course I responded with a giant YES and then he got down on one knee! It was history from there... and YES he asked for both my daddy and mama's permission! :)

4. Show us your wedding rings or an engagement photo! If not engaged/married ... show us your "dream" ring.
5. Tell us why you think marriage doesn't work out for so many? What can we do to make things last

I don't like to pass judgement and I'm certainly not a marriage expert but I believe that marriages are failing because people don't like to put in the work. Marriage is no walk in the park but I believe it's definitely worth fighting for and giving everything you have and a lot of people give up way to quickly. When things start to go wrong they panic and try to find a way out. Instead of looking at the future they only see the moment. People paint a very, "dream" like picture of what they think marriage is like and once they figure out it's hard and not the happily ever after they thought it would be they run and get out of dodge. It's sad to see so many young marriages failing and the divorce rates getting higher and higher. I believe circumstances call for divorce but for the most part I think people panic to quickly and sign their marriage away too soon.

  3. I love the sunflower field picture. I also love your rings - do you have two rings surrounding the engagement ring? I want a third but was curious about the significance of the third ring (beyond just looking pretty)?

  27. Lauren;
    I am a teenager. 16 years old. My boyfriend and I have been together for 2 years. I am not close to my family and I do not have any close friends that I can reach out to about this...Which is why I have come to you. I feel like you are my big sister! You are a wonderful role model and seem like such a sweet young woman. I look up to you! Which is why I have come to you for this advice.
    I think that you should do a post on sex. In particular? Premarital sex. What are your opinions on this? Were you and your husband sexually active before you married? I know this is a really personal subject. If you do not want to go into details I fully understand. I am a Christian and love the Lord. I also love my boyfriend. We are considering being intimate and I am in need of advice.
    I think you could reach out to a lot of people on your blog by talking about this subject. A subject that may seem "old fashioned" to some. I don't want to do something that a good Christian girl would not do. I think I would feel better knowing your thoughts on premarital sex. If you consider it to be a good thing and to find out that maybe you did the same, I would feel less "guilty" about the whole situation.
    The thing is, I need a response soon. I am meeting my boyfriend tonight at 10:30pm (East Coast time) So I am depending on you to get back to me before then. I don't want to do something that I will later regret. I need help from someone I see as a big sister figure. Could you PLEASE do a post on the subject today...soon? If you don't want to post something on your blog about it then you could always e-mail me... adviceneeder@yahoo.com ...but I think it would do good for you to post something so all of your followers can have something to look to for advice.
    Please please remember that I am meeting my boyfriend tonight at 10:30pm (East Coast time) ...I don't want to do something with him and then regret it later. PLEASE help?
